Award Winning Steel Protective Coatings

SAN DIEGO – March 21, 2017 – On March 17, 2017, CoatingsPro Magazine announced the winners for the inaugural Contractor Awards Program, designed to showcase and recognize the projects and crews that demonstrate excellence in the field of high-performance coatings.

The BASE Group, inc is receiving a 3rd place award in the Specialty Projects division for their work on the Pencil Smoke Stack on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver.

Winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at NACE International’s CORROSION 2017 Conference and Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

How does an amusement park paint its roller coasters?

BASE Group coating the new Star Flyer amusement park ride in Denver Colorado.  Amusement park ride re-coating and re-conditioning is a part of the coating business we throughly enjoy.  This new ride was speced out with Sherwin Williams Acrolon 218 polyurethane paint.   Preparation work consisted of degreasers and hot water to remove all oil and containments before applying the Acrolon 218 in custom RAL colors so ever present on amusement park and carnival rides.

Elevated Water Tank Painting

In Colorado we serviced an aging tanks exterior and recoated with Sherwin Williams Acrolon 218.  This 1 MG elevated water tower over coat painting was completed while the tank was in service.   Using a combination or lifts, swing stage and rope access this project came in on time and under budget and ready for the next 20 years of harsh Colorado weather.

We use a variety of coating products based on your specific needs such as epoxies, high solids polyurethane, moisture cured urethane, water based acrylic, cold galvanizing compounds.   All colors comply to FAA specs either in aviation orange and white, galvanized colors or the USFS colors.  Our methods of steel painting are site dependent either spray or brush and roll for a clean proper site.
